2021 WINTER’S WALK Holiday EP - New Songs!

Bundle up, because singer/songwriter Shane Cooley’s new EP, Winter’s Walk, will take you on a journey through a snowy night in Holiday Nostalgia Land. “I’ve been studying what makes a holiday song tick since I was very young,” said Cooley, “I used to write and record Christmas songs on my 8-track when I was in high school, and give them out as Christmas cards. This project brings back some good memories.”

Two of the tracks, “Deep Blue Lights,” and “Holidaze” are new Cooley originals. The other two, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” and “In the Bleak Midwinter,” are interpretations of old favorites. Cooley mused, “It’s mind-blowing to record songs that were written over a century ago! My favorite version of ‘It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’ was performed by Sinatra. You can’t top that. These songs have stood the test of time with their beauty.”

Cooley produced and recorded the EP himself in his cabin in Mollusk, Virginia. He also played all of the instruments, except for appearances by Chris Webb's (Dr.Dr.) psychedelic guitar on "Deep Blue Lights," and Connor Charlton (The Absolution Train) on banjo for "In The Bleak Midwinter." The EP was mastered by Fred Kevorkian (Willie Nelson / The White Stripes / Jerry Garcia) at Kevorkian Mastering in Brooklyn, New York.

Shane Cooley is a Virginia native who regularly haunts Austin, Texas. When the Pandemic swept over the world, Cooley released his last effort, 50 Songs, and has performed weekly live streams ever since on his Facebook page. You can tune Cooley's live streams on Wednesdays at 8pm ( Each live stream in December will be raising money for Healthy Harvest Food Bank in Warsaw, Virginia.
